About me. Let's see here.. My name is Alison. My thoughts, inspirations, feelings, and everything else will be written down right here. I ride and love horses. I live in New York, but I long to move south for the beautiful weather. I have big dreams and an even bigger heart. Don't believe me? Give me a shot, and I'll be sure to show you just who I am. Also, I don't own any of the pictures I post unless stated otherwise.

““The Amish do not carry health insurance. The government respects their principles. Christian Scientists want to heal by prayer alone, and the new health care reform law respects that. Quakers and others object to killing even in wartime, and the government respects that principle for conscientious objectors. By its decision, the Obama administration has failed to show the same respect for the consciences of Catholics and others who object to treating pregnancy as a disease.”

EXCEPT

those groups do not force everyone else to pray their sickness away, they aren’t pushing blood transfusions to be illegal for everyone, they don’t insist that NO one enlist, they do not call for the end to all health insurance…. they follow their beliefs and they don’t push them on anyone else.

The anti-choice movement isn’t concerned with what they are able to do but what everyone else can do too. If you want to follow the likes of the Quakers, more power to you but that would mean conceding to the point the pro-choice movement and movements for equality have been calling for… if you don’t like abortion, don’t have one, if you don’t like gay marriage, don’t get gay married and let the rest of us follow our own paths without the intervention of YOUR religion.

okay at this point i have to say, i have no idea WHY you follow me. We clearly disagree on almost everything.

And we aren’t forcing anyone else to adhere to our beliefs. If you don’t like Catholic beliefs, don’t work for a Catholic organization. Don’t patronize them if you hate it so much.

Do you have to agree with people to like them? I’m sorry you clearly dislike me because we differ in beliefs but I rather like you so I’ll keep following if you don’t mind.

I think you tend to think of everything in a Catholic light, like the whole world thinks Catholic…. I’m smack in the middle of Christian County USA, the reborn kind, the noisy kind, they don’t like the gays and they don’t like the Catholics either. When I discuss my issues with religion, it’s rarely the Catholics I’m thinking about, as a Catholic fallen, I still feel protective of the Church in my own way. I appreciate the teachings more than any other C religion, I just don’t have the belief anymore.

As for not forcing people to adhere to you’re beliefs, anytime your beliefs take the spotlight in things like Presidential debates and the removal or denial of rights to entire groups of people, that IS you making people adhere to your beliefs.

If you didn’t want people to adhere to your beliefs but only wanted the right to practice your own:

gay marriage would be legal

gay adoption wouldn’t be an issue

anti-choice wouldn’t be a thing

the bullying of Jessica Alquist wouldn’t be a thing. She wouldn’t have had to stand up in court and explain the religion for some doesn’t need to be everywhere.

And, I just have to add… I have never been rude to you, you say you welcome debate and healthy discourse don’t really seem willing to do that. I engage in conversation with you because I do like your perspective on things and while it doesn’t sway my own opinions it expands them. I value that.
